a more open form of dialogue
Gordon Brown has promised to build trust in politics, as he sets out his priorities as the next prime minister."To build trust in our democracy, I'm sure we need a more open form of dialogue with citizens and politicians to genuinely talk about problems and solutions.
"It is about a different type of politics, a more open and honest dialogue," he said.
Earlier today:
MPs today backed a controversial bid to exempt themselves from the Freedom of Information Act - a move described by opponents as "squalid".......But opponents said the real aim of the bill was to block embarrassing disclosures about MPs' expenses and allowances and accused the government of quietly endorsing a watering down of its own legislation, first implemented in 2005.
Just now:
Gordon Brown has rejected calls to block a controversial move by MPs to get out of freedom of information laws.
It's about the sovereignty of parliament, apparently. No honestly, you can trust him because he's being perfectly open about it.
Well, there is an upside. Taking a pop at Blair was in some ways difficult because there were really no plumbing his shallows. It was like trying to hit fog with a mallet. Taking a pop at Gordon will be much easier. More like shooting a Walrus with a bazooka, I think.
