Back in 2004 when SARS was running wild and there was an embargo on Thai poultry exports, Thaksin Shinawatra apparently offered Vladimir Putin several hundred million tonnes of diseased chicken in return for a squadron of Sukhoi ground attack aircraft.
His dealmaking skills don’t seem to have improved since then.
