In 1997:
Earlier this month, he told The Sun he liked nothing better than a quiet weekend in Sedgefield, the urban north England electorate he represents in Parliament. "It's fantastic up there, the place we can really relax. When the kids are in bed, I usually go down to the Labour club for a pint of Fed (Federation bitter). I often play a game of football or, in the summer, cricket with the dads. It's very close-knit and down to earth, the way we like it."
...and now:
Cameron used his magazine interview to extoll the virtues of darts, confessed to going "a bit soft on" Lark Rise to Candleford, and stressed that his feet are firmly on the ground as a man who does his own shopping, cooks his own food and does "all the things that you do as a family dad".
He said: "I am a TV fan. I watch a lot of dramas. Along with draught Guinness in cans, Sky+ is one of the great inventions of our time. What was I watching recently? Silent Witness. It's gotten a bit violent actually; the school shooting one was very, very compelling.
Excuse me while I go and sit in a corner and weep quietly.
I often play a game of football or, in the summer, cricket with the dads. It's very close-knit and down to earth, the way we like it.
Lying cunt.
Cameron was quite believable by contrast - it sounds more like somebody marketing his actual lifestyle (not sure about the darts, though - perhaps that slipped in from Blair's script). But...
What was I watching recently? Silent Witness. It's gotten a bit violent actually; the school shooting one was very, very compelling.
"Gotten"? "Gotten"?

Actually, yeah. I can just imagine him sitting there in his rugby shirt with his can of Guinness. Modern Posh Boy at Rest.

Wow, he's getting the product placement in early.

Diageo and BSkyB, eh? Both groups known for, um, a slightly aggressive attitude towards tax planning.
