As Ministry of Tofu points out, the problem with the Party Congress is that it's basically the world's most spectacular non-event. However, the ministry has heroically mined the occasion for interesting bits, of which the creepiest is the children interviewing ministers event:
Zhang Jiahe, a 11-year-old ‘reporter’ from Chinese Teenagers News, said to Jiang Weixin, the housing minister, “Houses are too expensive. Dads and moms of many of my classmates spent all their savings on buying a home and even borrowed money from the bank, and had no money to buy toys for the kids.” He asked ‘Uncle Minister’ how he would lower housing prices. Jiang replied, “I hope our little friends focus on studying hard. The issue of housing prices will be solved in the future.”
The Communist Party's fixing it for you, little friend. Anyway: the PBSC lienup is revealed tomorrow, Beijing time, and I'm sad enough to consider waiting up to find out who's on it. Meanwhile, the star of the show for the Sinosphere has been 'Yawning Brother'
