Ballard was prescient rather than prophetic, but like the bloke from Ballardian said on twitter, this is straight out of High Rise. The folks on the cruise ship are currently fighting over the last scraps of prepared food, but it looks like they'll make port before they start on the pets.
A million fathers breathe a collective sigh of relief as they are blessed with a good reason to inform their wives and children that their own holidays could be worse.

How many MSM hours were spent tracking these poor starving, long suffering people on their cruise liner? Last check on CNN lobster and steak was in the works, the place was getting spruced up, plumbing was mostly back and none of the cruisees had a bad word to say about the staff - just glowing reports. On disembarking some of the desperately abused spoke with Erin Burnett who was doing duty to make sure that they had all survived ffs. BBC obviously missed the boat on later reports because they were still working some daft "Lord of the Flies" analogy.

Hi! I can't think of anything else to say that won't be misinterpreted, so hi!

Why am I suddenly reminded of the episode of The day Today with the people stuck on a train?
