It’s the 56th birthday of greatest living Mancunian Mark E Smith today. It can’t be long before he turns completely into an ossified scrap of gristle and they put him on a plinth outside Salford Shopping City. A bunch of us are planning to hang around outside his favourite shop, the Prestwich outlet of Bargain Booze, later today and shout at passing motorists.
Anyway, BLCKGRD is doing the honours. And here’s an interview with WSC from a few years back which features some great Smithian tale-spinning, not a word of which I believe. Don’t miss his commendation of German football with its lager at 25p a bucket and its ‘nice, clean, sausages’.
56 and not looking a day older than 1000. There is some profundity and good music in there somewhere, though I admit it's somewhat diluted.

he should have just gone straight out for literature and avoided all the dicking around with musical instruments.

‘nice, clean, sausages’ those are some great Marke E Smith lyrics right there.

Of course, that was the point of your post title in the first place *smacks own forehead* (there's me stating the obvious.)
