Zombie movies have always been political in the sense that the zombie uprisings themselves serve as a kind of synedoche for all sorts of wider issues: racism, consumerism, militarism etc. In a way, the job of the zombies is to serve as a kind of control for attempts to explore the pathologies developed by societies under pressure. Alternatively, they serve as a means of forging unlikely alliances in the face of imminent danger which overcomes apparently intractable enmities. So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you Israel and Hezbollah against the zombies. You know, it’s almost as if the world would be a better place if it was plagues by hordes of flesh eating animated corpses.
