While his fellow students demonstrated in 1989, Peking University Student Union leader Xiao Jianhua remained loyal. This is his fate:
Xiao Jianhua spends much of his time these days at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, surrounded by aides who arrange his meetings with bankers and Asian tycoons and female bodyguards who even wipe the sweat from his brow. He owns a private jet and has bought multimillion-dollar properties in the United States and Canada.
Not a matter of conscience I think; more a case of a born suckup who got an opportunity to suck hard and suck early, and has been suckin' ever since. In fairness, I've known a few people who protested in that year who went on to do pretty well for themselves, but not to the extent of having their perspiration mopped by comely bodyguardettes.
