Condi visits Blackburn, 25 odd miles up the road from here, to specific protest but general indifference. This struck me, though:
Inside, their schoolmates were scornful. "I think the protests are wrong because we should be proud to have such a high-profile visitor," said Jabbar Khan, 16, a prefect who joined a line of 25 pupils to shake Ms Rice's hand.
Prefects never change, do they?
Eurgh! Horrid little creep. I forecast a glowing career.

Surely it's that the qualities for which they are selected that don't change, in a Darwinian perspective?

"Surely it's that the qualities for which they are selected that don't change"
true. But the raw material keeps showing up with its shoes shined and a smarmy expression on its fat little face.

Eugh. Creepy little oiks like this turn into Government ultra-loyalists, saluting and 'defending' the Blessed Leader at every turn.

I love the fact that he didn't mention the point of the protests, or whether they were justified or not ... it's enough to be "grateful" to have someone big and powerful visit. I forsee a glowing career in some future Blairite govt.
