Funny, I was just thinking about Ian Dury earlier and now somebody posts the word "blockhead". Which you never hear any more.

dsquared

on the Ustinov/Kamm's mum/ whatever subject btw, did you know that Gilad Atzmon, perennial HP bete noir and RESPECT fellow traveller, was the saxophone player in the Blockheads?

ejh

I'm afraid at that point my head may have to explode.

Kay may well have been the intellectual equivalent of the mousy girl with glasses, befriended by other girls only in order to make them look attractive by comparison. Next to Kay, Blair probably sounded scintillating.

jamie

Ah, the tugboat.

Under the name of 'Davey Payne'? Or is this your inscrutable sense of humour again?

Phil

Oh, all right then. Gilad Atzmon played sax with the Blockheads from August 1999 to February 2000. (ID died in March 2000.)

jamie

Someday, I'm going to do a fun facts open thread.

dsquared

All I know is that he was introduced by Dury under that name on the one occasion I saw them (which it appears must have been like nearly their second to last gig)
