Is it really "cold calling"? After all they wrote to him first, and presumably there was a phone number on the letter to ring back (though I suppose Gordon is getting someone to check with directory enquiries). Perhaps the weirder thing is not that he calls but the fact people expect no reply in the first place.


Fair point, though I doubt people actually expect a call from the PM, just "something to be done" about whatever it is.
