Update: The story was apparently taken from Interzone in 1996, without attribution or credit, which as Phil says is pretty shabby. But here's an interview with Claire Walsh, Ballard's longtime partner, which may be all their own work.

The Guardian has J G Ballard’s last short story: slight, with that extracted from the rejects file air about it, but still good to have. It also seems to be based heavily on Chris Marker’s La Jetee, in which Ballard had a sustained interest.
