Copenhagen Mayor Ritt Bjerregaard sent postcards to city hotels warning summit guests not to patronize Danish sex workers during the upcoming conference. Now, the prostitutes have struck back, offering free sex to anyone who produces one of the warnings.
Well, irrespective of its other drawbacks, we’re basically talking about a non-polluting industry. Think of it from the sex worker’s point of view: conventions, conferences, junkets and any other excuse for large numbers of men to gather in strange cities is a pretty important part of the commercial round. With a lot of these things it’s hard to see any other point to them. And if you’re in cities which specialize in this kind of hospitality then it must be like having lots of little Christmases all year round. So to speak.
