I was researching a “what if” post on the general theme of what would Israel do in the event of losing its military subvention from the United States, as advocated here (short answer: massive expansion of arms sales to both India and China) (via) when I ran across this gobsmacker:
On March 21, Israel’s military hosted a senior Chinese Defense Ministry official. Col. Huang Xueping, spokesman for the ministry and Chinese military, began a four-day visit to Israel, where he was briefed on the operations of the Israeli military spokesman’s office.
“The Chinese delegation will be presented with the public-relations lessons learnt during the Second Lebanon War and during Operation Cast Lead,” the Israeli military said on March 22. “Additionally, they will learn about the IDF School for Media’s training system and the integration of spokesmanship and operational planning.”
Now in what situations would the Chinese military in particular need to apply lessons learned in Gaza and Lebanon?
Obviously, they could do with some guidance. This “the Dalai is a wolf in a Lama’s costume and a horrible splittist so there” routine is frankly getting a bit old.
Anyway, on the wider subject, here’s how the Israeli defence industry woos India.
You might be interested to know that China Telecom just leaked a huge number of prefixes into the global Internet routing table - again. A lot of networks actually filter all their BGP announcements. I can't imagine a more literal example of "exporting China's internal chaos". It's exactly like the melamine, with a side-order of nationalist hackers, spam/crimeware, and state censorship.

On more than one occasion Israel has sold American military technology to the Chinese. There was instance where supposedly this then got exported to the Iranians. With friends like these, etc.

It surprised me a few years back to find out than in the Iran-Iraq war, Israel sold tank engines and other military spares to Iran.

Israel sold tank engines
And they ended up on the Island of Sodor. Funny how things turn out.

As the good reverend WV Audrey was a pacifist, he sadly can't be cast as the eminence gris in the whole shady transaction.

Wasn't this the operation which resulted in an Argentine (?) registered aircraft carrying Israeli arms to Iran being brought down over Armenia by the Soviets?
