Members of the private Energy Security Leadership Council will discuss possible U.S.-Chinese cooperation on oil security-related issues, said retired Navy Admiral Dennis Blair, a former U.S. director of national intelligence. "Can't we work on them (oil security issues) together?"
Blair said his fellow travelers would ask at meetings with Chinese government officials and business leaders. He cited what he called parallel U.S. and Chinese oil-market interests, including securing supplies at "a reasonable price."
via. OK. A bunch of retired senior military figures fronting for an interesting assortment of corporate sector actors go to China to discuss securing oil for all at a reasonable price, and the measures necessary to secure this outcome pending energy diversification. They are meeting with a sub-unit of a cabinet level Chinese body meant to supervise national economic development, which seems about right protocol wise. I have no idea what this portends, but I bet the word Egypt will be mentioned in the discussions.
In other news, Rolls Royce now has no stealth fighter for its engine. China still has no engine for its stealth fighter.
I see Jamie has now taken up pushing Rolls-Royce sales pro bono.
(Just pulled up the RR long-term. The company has done relatively well, but of course it basically has paid no dividends. Although if you wanted a international engineering-centric company that has really done well, SNC-Lavalin seems to be the one.)
