One of Ms Blood's academic forefathers is also a prominent opponent of US missile shield programs. She was disturbed to find, at her meetings with representatives of the US military-industrial complex (mostly DoD guys) in Honolulu recently, that he was treated by them with utmost scorn and derision - "They seemed to think he was much more their enemy than the Chinese."  But when she mentioned he'd been in China to give lectures recently, she regretted it almost instantly, since they seized on it to try and smear him more among themselves, "just like some of their Chinese counterparts would if you spent too much time in the US."
