Cameron’s first inclination, which was to make Bratton head of Scotland Yard, was scotched by Theresa May, the Home Secretary, because Bratton isn’t a British citizen.
People have been comparing Cameron to Judge Dredd, which is somewhat flattering. He blundered back into Britain last week like Norman Wisdom bursting into a confined space, except that when Cameron hits you with a plank, you stay hit. This man is in charge, or at least capable of making things happen.
Yes, and the thinking was that coalition governments would either be consensual or unstable. Maybe it's because Nick Clegg is the lamest politician in history.

Good Grud Almighty. Have they? Where? On what possible grounds? ("He has a readily recognisable chin, he is surrounded by urban chaos, and a disturbingly large number of his colleagues turn out to be corrupt".)

Opposed to democracy?
Says "Sometimes the innoocent must suffer"?
Carried the serum over the Cursed Eearth to Mega-City Two?
Perhaps not that last. But were I Hislop I'd think about trying out a quarter-page strip called 'Brit Cit'. Tebbitt is looking more and more like Judge Death every day, for example.

And somehow I can't see Theresa May as Judge Hershey

To paraphrase Ernie Bevin, not while Ed's still around, he ain't.
On the issue of the riots, Clegg's contribution to date has been negligible for the coalition, but pretty good for the Lib Dems. He was there, being photographed pressing the flesh in Tottenham, while some people were arguing with waitresses in Tuscany.

No, I think you mean Judge McGruder.
Posted by: ajay | August 17, 2011 at 10:40 AM
What, you mean he's been arresting or shooting corrupt businessmen and politicians left, right and centre? Does he ride a motorbike? Has he an encyclopaedic knowledge of the laws of this country?

...Holds power despite not having won an election?

It would be easy to wonder if Murdoch has let the strings go slack.

What has he made happen? It's not the same thing as having your press officer bang out a few ECIs.

"Gaze into the fist of Dave!" doesn't have quite the same ring to it...

Theresa May as psi judge Anderson is not quite convincing either.

If you look at the number of times Dredd has made the Long Walk only to be rehabilitated and given another job, the politician he really resembles most is Peter Mandelson.

Cameron's more of a Judge Judy than a Judge Dredd.

Once?
